Time to take a break from so many words and explore the world of graphic novels. We did this last year, for the first time (Click here to get a whole bunch of author links). I think the guys would say it was a big success.
The thing about graphic novels is that they are really quick reads. So we can’t just pick one and discuss it. Well, we could, but we’d be sitting around for three weeks waiting for the meeting to start. So, instead of reading one book, we going to read as many as we can.
This is a little different from how we usually do things, so let me give you a run down of how it will work.
There are graphic novels a lot of places. Mrs. B has a bunch in the library. The public library has a great collection. And I’ve got a whole bunch in Room 3.
- Check one out from our library or the public library the normal way.
- If you want to check out one from me, just write down the title and your name on the check-out sheet.Check it off when you return it.
- Write it down on your tracking sheet so you remember what you’ve read
- Pick another one.
Oh, and another thing. We’ll be starting our meeting with our first Skype of the year. Stephen McCranie, creator of the hilarious and clever Mal and Chad series, will join us via the Internet for a little visit. So make sure you pick up The Biggest, Bestest Time Ever! and Food Fight! sometime during the month. And start thinking of questions! And! Head to this post and enter the password you got from Mr. S to read the first chapter of his new book, Belly Flop! It isn’t even out yet!
Meeting: Thursday, Nov. 29, 6:15 pm (we’re starting a little earlier because our Skype starts at 6:30)
