April Book Post: Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World

Cover © Crown Books for Young Readers

Spring is here! Actually, here’s the crazy part: This will be our penultimate book of the year (look it up if you don’t know what it means, because it is an awesome word–one of my favorites). Can you believe it? We’ve done so much this year.

For April we’ll be diving into nonfiction with one of the greatest survival stories ever: Ernest Shackleton’s failed trans-Antarctic expedition. The book is Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World, by Jennifer Armstrong. We’ve read it before in Guys Read. Twice. As I said at the last meeting, it’s pretty much one of the most unbelievable true stories ever.

Hopefully with spring break we don’t get too off track this month. The book is shortish, so I suppose if you haven’t picked up the book yet, you’ll still be able to get a good start after we get back. Mrs. B has lots of copies.

Can’t wait!

Meeting: Thursday, April 26, 6:30-7:30
