Guys Read takes a trip to the moon

Our first non-book Guys Read activity ever culminated yesterday before our book club meeting. To tie in with Hugo Cabret and the Méliès film, A Trip to the Moon, we spent three afternoons building model rockets. Then we launched them to(ward) the moon. I was worried about rain, too much wind, and disrupting any of the three soccer practices going on around us. But we were successful on all counts.

The batteries on my camera died during part of it, so unfortunately we don’t see everyone’s launch, but all of our guys are featured, including first-timers Jesus and Dusty.

It was a great time had by all. Thanks again to the Meridian PTA for funding this project!
